Release 19 — Event Preview Links

Release 19 ships a new way for clubs to grow: shareable preview links for members-only events.

Share Members-Only Events

Club members can now generate a preview link for any members-only event and share it anywhere. Anyone who follows the link sees the event details and the club's profile without needing an account.

To RSVP, they'll need to join the club first (which is kind of the point).

Why Share Members-Only Events?

Clubs lose members all the time. Life happens: a new baby, a job change, a move across town and the crew gets smaller. The people who leave aren't necessarily gone forever, but having a vibrant community means having people show up. Some of the people who would love your club just haven't found it yet.

Event preview links give clubs a lightweight way to advertise what they're actually doing. Instead of describing your club in the abstract, you can share a real event and let it speak for itself. An interested person clicks the link, sees the event and the club, and decides whether it fits their life right now.

Security Considerations

One thing you'll notice that is not shared is the address information. This event may be at someone's residence, so that information is withheld from the preview at the data-access level. It is also to prevent would-be party crashers that got the information from a friend-of-a-friend.

How to Use It

Open any members-only event in your club, then tap Share. Share the link however you like. When someone follows it, they'll land on an event preview page that shows the event details alongside your club's information. On that preview page they can follow the link to express interest in joining the club.
